randel plowman

just had to share this incredible artist's work with you today, although, he may very well be familiar to those of you who scour the internet for anything collage-related.

randel plowman's "a collage a day" blog has generated much interest. randel creates and posts his lovely collages daily and then sells them for a song. i bought this one last year...........i had to! my husband's nickname for me is "bunny" (don't ask!) and when i saw this particular collage? of course, i had to buy it, didn't i? the work is well-executed, packaged professionally and shipped free! all for 25 bucks. sheesh you can't afford NOT to buy one of his works. so many of us don't have the capital to spend tons but so desperately want original art in our lives. perfect solution.

what do i like about randel's work? easy-peasey....his compositions. stunning. they just sing. ala kurt schwitters. clean, simple, uncluttered. utterly charming. so, collage lovers, run, don't walk to randel's blog (and no, i'm not getting a kickback from randel by recommending him. although, heck, if he wants to send me a free collage, i'm not about to turn it down.....).
on a personal note: i wrote randel to ask him about his secrets of collage, something i could pass on to my students in this new venture of teaching collage. happily, he supplied me with a number of techniques and ideas. thought that was pretty darned cool of him. considering we only met through email re: the sale of the aforementioned collage. very generous of him. i'm sure he's one busy guy. i sure appreciated it!
hey, randel, if someone else wanted to copy your idea and offer collages for sale at a good price, would you consider "imitation the most sincere form of flattery"??
